It's not all fun and parties..

In between our birthday celebrations and cake gobbling, we have been doing some work. It's true!

In science we've been zappily :-) learning about circuits. We've learnt a lot and soon we are going to start working on our projects.

In literacy we've been reading, interviewing, researching, note-taking and planning our biographies. We've done a few practices and now we are working on a biography about a famous Victorian. We are doing this in groups and will eventually make a poster about our famous Victorians.  We practiced making posters about the main features of biographies and autobiographies and I thought this one, by Joon Il, was great (Excellent layout, information and presentation). I think I'll ask him to do all of my wall displays :-)
In Maths we have been working on data handling.  Students collected and presented data about our school and around our school. We have some of the  graphs and analyses are on display along the corridor near our class room. (I will take a photo). Now we are focusing on measurement, perimeter, area and converting metric and imperial units.

The students have also received their debate topics and are working hard on that! I'm looking forward to the next debates: Is mountain living better then city living? AND Is coal powered energy better then nuclear powered energy?

Well.. that's pretty much it for now! There are lots of exciting things coming up.. hopefully I'll have time to blog about it.

Aaaaanother Birthday!

Wow! It's a busy time for poor old teachers (meetings, grading and reporting + the normal stuff + the extra stuff). I tell you what teachers are never bored! Hence, I've been doing a lot of other teacher stuff and haven't had time to blog. I've finally written in my 'to do list' and now I'm doing it! Yay a blog update!

As the title suggests, we did have another birthday in our class. Just before swimming last Tuesday we filled ourselves up with Izabel's birthday muffins and chocolates. Izabel's mum came in to help too. Here's a pic of the little express party we had:

November the Birthday Month!

We've had a few birthdays already since we've been back: Swetha, Misaki and Rashad's (this weekend).
Swetha bought in a huge cake and we sent her out the room, lit the candle, turned the lights out, and let her back in to the chorus of our enthusiastic voices belting out 'Happy Birthday'.
Misaki bought in lovely little bags for everyone filled with cupcakes and cookies. They were very yummy!

Autumn Party!

This is a bit late! Here are some of the pictures of our Autumn party. This was a fun event organised by the Student Council for the last day of the half term. The students could wear costumes, bring food and enter competitions for 50 cents.

Week 7 : Back at School and back to Work!

Everything is back to the normal routine.

Our plants are growing. There are flowers on our pea-plants and the radishes were ready to harvest.
So on Friday we pulled some of them out

 washed them and....
ate them! They were lovely and crispy.

We worked on the computers and created a document to attach to an email.

In maths, we worked on understanding shapes and describing their properties.

School Trip: Fun Final Friday

We're just about to go to our last pony riding session this morning.

Last night the kids had a blast at the disco. There was a dress-up theme: crazy. And they did very well with that. Some kids were wearing one gumboot with a slipper, undies on their heads, pictures on their faces. At the disco, they danced their socks off! Lots of fun!

Here are some shots:

School Trip: Thoughtful Thursday

Today was such incredible day. The very first place we went to was a boat. But it wasn't  any old kind of boat. That boat that we went on was some kind of a small one.
We saw a part of a river called a lock that is some kind of an elevator  for a boat. The water was going up and down.
After we went to eat lunch in some kind of place. When we finished eating we went to a goat cheese factory. The goats were so cute. We got to hold the babies! After we went back, and we ate snack.
